Well y'all, the end of summer - at least meteorologically and "unofficially" - is near with Labor Day weekend rolling up right around the corner now! I have to say that I'm not unhappy with that because while, as usual, it has been a hot, hot summer down here, it also seems to be hot pretty much everywhere else too.
This past weekend our temperatures broke records! I am so ready for some fall weather, even though that does take awhile to get down here.

A classic recipe for southern peas simply seasoned and perfect as a side dish or as a feature on a vegetable plate - my personal favorite summer meal!
Fresh green beans, trimmed and snapped and layered in with salt pork, onion, sliced smoked andouille sausage, plenty of freshly cracked black pepper and pork or chicken base or stock, cooked in the Instant Pot.
A basic cabbage coleslaw with a creamy vinegar and mayonnaise base - add some salad shrimp!
A general-purpose marinade great on chicken, beef, pork, shrimp and even vegetables.
Fresh corn stripped from the cob, then fried in bacon drippings and butter, and finished with a little splash of cream.
Thick slices of cucumber pair up with red onion and a tart vinegar dressing. Add the ends of some fresh tomatoes that you need to use up as pictured!
Roasted tomatoes make such an amazing pasta sauce & you can do it in your air fryer y'all!
A versatile and super easy pasta sauce made from garden fresh tomatoes, pictured here with a three cheese tortellini and garnished with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.
An easy crockpot BBQ pulled pork, cooked with onion, barbecue sauce, chicken broth, mustard, hot sauce and liquid smoke, perfect for shredding for sandwiches.
Rotini pasta paired with red onion, celery, green and red bell pepper, black olives, chopped tomato and dressed with a homemade or bottled Italian dressing.
Fresh squash and tomatoes are paired with Vidalia onion and sweet bell peppers, topped with cheese and buttered bread crumbs and baked.
