Cabbage Soup Round-up
I love cabbage cooked all kinds of different ways, but I especially love cabbage central soups.
Unfortunately, my husband aka The Cajun, isn't as big a fan of it as me, meaning when I make any kind of cabbage dish, well... it's all for me.
That doesn't stop me though y'all, and neither should it stop you.
If you love a certain dish the rest of your family isn't interested in, I say treat yourself occasionally and make it. Just for you. The rest of the family can get along just fine on leftovers or sandwiches, trust me.
I've enough cabbage soup and stew recipes collected now that I thought it'd be a good time to gather them up and put them into a round-up collection for our readers. Tap or click on the photo or the title to access the full recipe, step by step photos and access to a printable document.
Be sure to check back though as I add to the collection, because there are more on the way!
A hearty soup made with a chicken stock base, beans, lots of vegetables and fresh cabbage.
A filling and satisfying cabbage soup made with a beef stock and tomato with V8 base, ground beef, turkey or sausage, and served over rice, with flavor that is reminiscent of an unstuffed cabbage roll.
A stew of ground pork or beef, andouille sausage, cabbage, the trinity of onions, bell pepper and celery, potatoes and carrots, in a chicken or beef broth base with Rotel tomatoes.
A simple soup made from a chicken broth base, with leftover baked ham, bacon, a ham hock and cabbage.
A beef broth and tomato based soup made with smoked sausage, sweet potatoes, blackeye peas and cabbage.
A chicken stock based soup made with a mirepoix of carrot, onion and celery, and cooked with sliced leeks, cabbage, potatoes, seasonings and spicy andouille sausage.
This cabbage soup is often referred to as zero point or free soup, because it is low calorie and primarily tomato and vegetable centered. Filling, satisfying and tasty too!
