Once used regularly as a simple drink meant to sooth the sick, this rich and creamy beverage is also an excellent base for homemade eggnog.
A fantastic and tasty sweet breakfast casserole that you throw together the night before and then just slide into the oven in the morning. Great for Christmas morning!
Chuck roast, braised low and slow in the oven in a light roux with pot roasted veggies - it's a classic Sunday roast.

Good served with mashed potatoes, a side vegetable, like asparagus, green beans, corn, carrots, mixed vegetables, or seasonal sautéed or roasted vegetables, sweet tea and a nice yeast roll.
A stew made of chicken thighs, or a whole cut-up chicken, browned in butter and oil, and cooked in a tomato-based Creole sauce with the trinity of veggies and a mix of curry, herbs and spices and rice.
Sliced potatoes are tossed with onion in seasoned flour, then fried in a bit of hot oil, covered and smothered with milk for a slow simmer. Simple, delicious comfort food.
Pinto beans prepped with a preboil and then slow cooked with onion, bacon and simple seasonings. Serve topped with onions, tomato relish, or pico de gallo with cilantro, if desired, and cornbread or warmed tortillas on the side.
This is a small batch, basic ground beef and tomato chili with beans, made in the slow cooker. Can be doubled of course if you need a bigger batch!
A stew of ground pork or beef, andouille sausage, cabbage, the trinity of onions, bell pepper and celery, potatoes and carrots, in a chicken or beef broth base with Rotel tomatoes. Yum y'all!
