Comfort Food Favorites 3
This sure has been a crazy month in the Deep South with all of these winter storms rolling through. We have readers from all across the country so I know that a lot of you have been affected by them too. Even here in the Deep South we've had multiple freezes lasting well into the day even, and that's highly unusual for us.
Be safe, stay warm and don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
We've been sharing some good comfort meals on social media lately, so we're continuing that and if you're looking for some belly warming foods, here's a summary of what we've shared recently.

A whole chicken, stewed down in the same manner as homemade chicken and dumplings, but is then simmered with thick, homestyle noodles. Comfort food, indeed!
A savory southern-style beef stew, made from chunks of seasoned chuck roast, a mixture of beef stock and water, herbs, potatoes, celery and carrots, rich and loaded with flavor.
Sometimes called simply Sour Cream Noodle Bake, this dish is sort of a cross between baked spaghetti and lasagna in its flavor profile.
Simplicity is what makes up a Cajun Shrimp Stew - a simple light roux, onion, sweet bell pepper, shrimp and a few seasonings is all there is to it!
Cabbage with ground beef or sausage, or a combination of them, cooked rice, tomato sauce and a little sweet and sour element - the flavors of classic stuffed cabbage rolls in a quicker shortcut, one-pot version.
Chicken, slow baked over rice and bacon, in a flavorful cream sauce.
A delicious oven roasted rump roast that marinades overnight with a Greek seasoning, salt, pepper and lemon marinade, then coated with cream soup, topped with mushrooms and bacon, and it makes its own mushroom gravy!
A creamy tomato-based stew with shrimp, crawfish and crab and served over hot, steamed rice.
Such a simple dish but so comforting, warm & delicious!! This traditional stewed chicken dish begins with a browned, cut up chicken, that is slow cooked in a roux-based gravy.
