Marinated Baked Salmon

I grew up with fresh seafood and I love it all.

But, of course, salmon is not a fish that I grew up with here on the Gulf Coast.

In fact, it is only in recent years that I have come to appreciate it and the salmon I've been enjoying for the last few years is from Faroe Island, which in my opinion is superior over any other.

Farmed in the remote, pristine and roomy natural environment of the North Sea and Atlantic, where their diet is natural, rather than forced or controlled.

That nutrient rich diet means they develop layers of healthy fats, providing those good for us healthy Omega-3 fatty acids that represent health benefits for us, with joint support, healthy brain function and heart healthy benefits.

Great protein and the quality and taste is just outstanding!

While I've been experimenting with several different methods of seasoning and cooking salmon, the way I've made it the most is in the oven. I just find it cooks more evenly and is more consistent than stovetop or even grilling, though I occasionally still use both of those as well.

Here are some of my other salmon recipes:

Baked Salmon with Cajun Brown Sugar Citrus Rub
Cast Iron Seared Salmon

Remember to cook extra for these!

Here's what you'll need to make this Marinated Baked Salmon.

  • 4 (6-ounce) boneless, skinless, center-cut salmon fillets
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons Creole or Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • Mixed dried herbs, optional, to taste

Just a quick reminder.... if you aren't interested in the chit chat, info, photos, tips and such on a blog, as always, you'll find the complete recipe text with measurements and instructions, as well as a printable document, a little bit further down the page. Just swipe or scroll down to the bottom of the post!

Here's how to make it!

Place salmon on a plate with the rounded, presentation side down. I prefer to brush them on a separate plate and then transfer to the baking pan to avoid getting excess oil on the baking pan.

Gather up the marinade ingredients.

Place everything in a small bowl and whisk together.

Brush the salmon with the seasoned oil, turn over, presentation side up and brush with the oil. Set aside for 30 minutes.

When ready to bake, preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Transfer salmon to a baking sheet topped with a silpat (#ad) or brushed with oil. If your salmon has a thinner piece on one end, tuck that under.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, depending on the size of your salmon. I mostly use my countertop Ninja double oven (#ad) for baking these days and 8 minutes is generally pretty perfect for me. All ovens vary of course, so actual time will also depend on the performance of your own oven.

Plate and serve.
